“As it lay there with the shadows of the mountains brilliantly photographed upon its still surface I thought it must surely be the fairest picture the whole earth affords.” -Mark Twain

Named by USAToday as, America’s Best Lake, the “Lake in the Sky” offers extraordinary beautiful scenery and year round recreation. Tahoe Blue Estate complements the beauty that is Lake Tahoe with an architecture encompassing the surroundings. The foundation was attached to some of the boulders, and several of the footings were poured over the boulders. The home sits on 1.71 acres on top of a summit. The site is so secluded that a helicopter was required to set some of the beams.

Originally built in 1992 by Stuart Spear, the founder of award-winning Spear Construction, Tahoe Blue Estate as breathtaking views from every bedroom. Both the upstairs great room and the downstairs family room offer spectacular panoramic views of Lake Tahoe while some of the bedrooms and the large back yard include phenomenal views of the forest and of Heavenly Ski resort stretching from the gondola all the way over to the top of Stagecoach.

The original owner of the house was Connie (C.N.) Ray, the founder of the world famous Sea Ray Boats Company. Subsequent owners included David Ewing in 2004 and the Gam Landstrom Trust in 2009. Steve and Wendy Kaplan purchased the home in 2017 and converted it into a high-end luxury rental.

The original house was beautifully architected and built with high wooden beamed ceilings and an indoor waterfall that provides both ambiance and a pleasant humidity. Tahoe Blue Estate has since been updated with a completely remodeled kitchen and beautiful stone work as part of a long heated driveway, entrance way and decks. The kitchen includes top-of-the-line Viking appliances that will please any chef, while the furnishings and woodwork throughout the home are stunning.

The two car garage and long driveway offer plenty of parking while the boulders and elegant steel gate surrounding the property ensure security. A natural gas fed grill enables barbequing on the back deck in the summer, while a natural gas powered generator helps ensure continued electricity even in the event of a loss of power.
